At Knotty But Nice, we design and build outdoor spaces that genuinely work, bespoke garden rooms, decking, verandas and seating areas for homeowners across Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. Every project starts with how you actually use your garden, not a catalogue of pre-set designs. Whether you want a shaded dining area, a covered corner to sit in year-round, or a full garden transformation, we build it around your life, your budget and your plot.
A case of trying to fit a traditionally square peg into a round hole. This project required fitting an enclosed gazebo and deck into an angled corner of a garden. The deck was installed using our new low-impact galvanised ground spikes, which, provide a study mounting point for the decking framework without the need for concrete or gravel foundations. Once these were installed and levelled we mounted the framework, laid the decking and built the enclosed gazebo, creating a secluded sanctuary by which to enjoy the rest of the garden.
This project called for the complete make-over of a plain garden space, that was unused and laid to lawn. The customer requested a raised 'L-Shaped' deck with space for dining, relaxing and cooking. The deck height increased visibility into the neighbours garden, so we suggested a slatted privacy wall and incorporated a covered BBQ area. The final additions were to build a small storage shed / bar around the end of the hedge to infill a prominent gap and a full width outdoor bench next to the BBQ.
This customer asked for their existing garden room to be modified to include an outdoor seating area and entrance deck. After several design changes, we installed this raised angled deck to match the complicated fence line, then added a minimalist gazebo frame and modern slatted wall. We finally coloured matched all the deck boards and framework to the existing garden room to bring it all together as a cohesive garden escape.
We converted the existing gravelled pond area into a raised deck and sunken pool. The old timber path in front of the garden room was also rotten, so we replaced that with matching decking boards to create a seamless flow back to the customers house.
